Flaxseeds are known for their high omega-3 fatty acid content. When the seed is grounded, the inner content is exposed and interact with air. This causes the chemical structure of the fatty acids to change and break down to produce unpleasant odour and flavours, which we refer to as rancidity. To enjoy Alligga™’s whole roasted and milled flaxseeds at their highest quality, we recommend the following:
- Store Alligga™’s Ground Flaxseeds in a cool place, like the refrigerator once the package is opened.
- Store Alligga™’s Whole Roasted Flaxseeds at either room temperature or in the refrigerator once the package is opened.
- Enjoy Alligga™’s Whole Roasted Flaxseeds in the milled form by using a household coffee grinder, but it must be stored in the refrigerator once ground.
